A paradigm has already manifested. A shift from head to heart—from instinct to intuition—from tactics to authenticity and a universal need for pure humanity.

The research concludes that 2/3 of the skills impacting the future workforce will be soft skills such as collaboration and compassion. Successful organisations increasingly state that Belongingness is a foundation for succeeding with diversity and inclusion.

By promoting Belongingness and a new perspective on leadership, you can prepare yourselves for the next decades.

 

After centuries of conservative management linked to a hierarchical view on people, the need for authentic leadership, equality, flat hierarchies, compassion, integrity, and respect is becoming clear, and the majority of the managerial behaviours and actions connected with the Industrial Revolution are being phased out rapidly.

 

The ‘my way or the highway’ management and the ‘one size fits all (or nobody)’ management do not serve people’s needs, which are linked to the leadership of Belongingness and the human right of freedom of speech.

 

However, pure leadership is a scarce resource. Only a minority of talents (and leaders) practice it by nature, and those without a people focus are still positioned as our everyday thought leaders and leadership influencers. Instead of them keeping this position going into the next decade, where the paradigm shifts, the need for a new perspective is eminent. Not doing anything is already a burning platform.

The new future

The trend is that the team contributes directly to the individual's consciousness development. Previously, it was seen as the opposite way around.

 

We can do a lot for the talent from the bottom up, but if we are part of a team that does not support our strengths and development, we are held back. We have therefore failed to succeed in promoting talent and culture with the individual focus that has existed so far. We have forgotten that talents are not a one-man band; they need a team of the new paradigm. Then, suddenly, everyone is a talent, and results and Belongingness go hand in hand.​

The beauty is that, in this way, we emphasise more cohesiveness and weaken the regime of the individual patriarch.

After all, the easiest thing on the savannah is to attack the animal that is not with the herd; it is more difficult for the patriarch when the herd holds together and applies individual strengths in a coordinated way.

 

According to research, applying collaboration and compassion and striving to be agile in ambiguity are important factors in ramping teams for success.
